Bible Reading Plans for the New Year
In the book of Acts, we see Stephan display his knowledge of scripture alongside the Spirit's gift of illumination to proclaim the mighty truth of the gospel. We also see Peter preach sermons that take the listener through the details of the Old Testament and help them understand how it all points to Jesus. Knowing the Bible is the most important thing a Christian can do to grow in Christ, and for Peter and Stephen (and so many others), it didn't happen supernaturally, and it didn't happen overnight. Stephan and Peter had likely grown up memorizing large sections of the Old Testament, but this doesn't make them super-Christians. It simply makes them able to discern God's will and truth through the Spirit.
As a new year approaches, consider taking up the challenge of reading either the whole Bible or the Old or New Testaments. Consistent Bible reading aims to develop habits and gain a broad understanding of what is in the Bible.
Here are some plans that will help you. If you make this your goal, let us know, and we will pray for you. If you already use a different plan, let us know which one.
